Obesity runs in my family. I have two brothers who average 400 pounds, and a couple of sisters who are north of the 260 mark, and none of us are tall, topping out at about 5'7". Another sister is currently close to 200 lbs ten years after stomach shrinking surgery helped her lose 125 pounds. I am currently at 155, but have been considerably larger at times in my life when my activity level was restricted do to work or other concerns. On several occasions I have lost up to 60 lbs — If not, I would be up there with my brothers. I have found that the key for me is to be extremely active, burning at least 1000 calories. What I eat seems to have less effect on my weight than what I do.
