I have a theory that unsolicited advice givers (UAG) are a lot like sexual assaulters (SA). Both are sub-populations of all men, and in the case of SA hopefully a small slice of the population of all men. The UAG slice is probably a lot larger. The problem for men not in one group or the other is that both groups are serial and persistent offenders which magnifies their adverse effects on the perceptions of men by women. One member of each population (UAG and SA) can mess with hundreds of different women in ways major and minor and make it seem as those tendencies are endemic in the population. That sadly may indeed be the case for the UAG’s, but I think not for the SA’s.
